The plot revolves around a man named Barney (Paul Taylor), with an obsession that requires him to record all his thoughts on the fly with the help of a tape recorder, which he seems to always carry on himself. As he explains in his inner narrative, he has already outlived three wives and is now engaged to a fourth, a woman named Alice (Georgina Spelvin). Barney makes a living, we assume, as an artist specializing in 3-D erotic art - they hang over his bed to the left and right of a sign that reads "I fuck, that's why I am." As Barney says, sex is everything.
